About Sam Carter

Sam Carter has been a proud Trigg County resident for more than 53 years.  He built a long and distinguished 46-year career with CSX Transportation, overseeing operations across 21,000 miles of railroad from Homestead, Florida to two provinces in Canada.  Sam supervised hundreds of employees in multiple regions, led major infrastructure surveys, and spent the last 20 years of his career, planning system-wide maintenance projects.

Throughout his time with CSX, Sam worked directly with every company CEO, beginning with Prime F. Osborn III, contributing to high-level engineering and operational initiatives.  His reputation was built on accountability, strong leadership, and a no-nonsense approach to solving problems.

Beyond his professional career, Sam has devoted decades to serving Trigg County.  He currently serves as President of the Trigg-Lyon County Fire Department Board, where he has helped improve operations, support volunteer firefighters, and strengthening emergency response for local residents.  Sam also organized the construction of a heliport pad at the fire department -- a critical asset for emergency air transport and lifesaving medical access.

Married for 53 years, Sam's life reflects the same values he brings to public service -- commitment, responsibility, and putting family and community first.

Sam Carter is running for Judge Executive to bring the same steady leadership, experience, and hands-on problem-solving to Trigg County government -- always putting the county and its people first.
